The Dark Knight Chronicles

Once again, we have another production of that mysterious hero; Batman. This production decides to take the Dark Knight to a whole different angle: Full Blast Funny! This is a series that has no intention of taking itself seriously or taking Batman too seriously either. Does it work?

You bet it does. I’ve had several laughs through out the video series. The production is well polished and loaded with talent. The storyline has some fun characters and funny lines. It gets a bit cheesy and slow at times. But it’s a lot of fun and my biggest criticism is that there aren’t enough videos in this series. I want more! I give this series a high half-squashed pumpkin. Enjoy!!

Epic Meal Time

Epic Meal Time is a food blog and video series. Actually, EpicMealTime.com hosts 3 different web series; all on the topic of food. But not just any food. Gross Food!

The show ‘Epic Meal Time’ focuses on the host demonstrating (often with a buddy) truly epic uses for a specific ingredient; like bacon or beef. The show ‘Epic Chef’ is a competition show where two teams are competing against each other with a themed ingredient. The winner is determined by a panel of judges. The show ‘Throwback Thursdays’ is about…? I’m not actually sure. I mean it’s not much different from ‘Epic Meal Time’

Epic Meal Time

I’m not really sure what to say about this series of food videos. It’s definitely focused on a distinct ‘flavor’ of show. I mean no pun by that. It’s gross. Every episode is gross. And they mean to be gross.

It might be that I have a delicate stomach, but I’m going to have to give this a half squashed pumpkin. I know that some people will love this series. It’s not without its humor. It’s playful and there isn’t a boring moment in any of the episode I watched. But… it’s gross and I highly recommend that you don’t watch these shows while eating.

With all that said, do give it a try, especially if you are the type who likes to play with your food. Click the image above to give it a go and have fun!

Bandwagon

Bandwagon is a docu-comedy that follows a character called Emma Caulfield; a blond haired, blue eyed actress on a mission to make a difference in the world by producing a “Glee” like show for the black community. Actually, the character Emma Caulfield is a tangible person – one of the creators of this show, in fact. Is this as real a documentary as is the star of the show? I ask with tongue in cheek.

While this show has wicked characters and a cool plot line, it can be a bit cliche at times. Characters are predictable and sometimes a bit over the top in their personalities. However, with that said, it’s a blast to watch and down right funny! Bandwagon has some truly funny scenes and the actors are well cast, each performing their characters wonderfully – which could be because they are all possibly playing themselves like Caulfied. Who cares. It’s entertaining!

I can’t give this series a full on pumpkin. But I have to say, I’d give it a pretty darn close one. It gets a half squashed pumpkin with a strong recommendation from me to go check it out!

Jailbait

This hilarious story follows a character named Ozzie O’Conner who finds himself in prison for the first time in his life. He takes us along for the ride as he tries to fit into prison culture and social rules.

This is truly one of the funniest shows on the net. It’s written by John Lehr and Nancy Hower. John Lehr also stars in the series as Ozzie O’Conner and, I must say, he does an excellent job playing the roll. Nancy Hower also works as the director. She, too, does a fantastic job keeping a well run pace to the plot. There isn’t a moment of boredom. This duo shocks the viewer with twists in the story and tons of puns and funny lines. Jailbait is a rare gem on the internet.

A fully intact pumpkin goes to this production. Well done! A must see!!

The Biggs

The Biggs is a web series that is set around a rock star called Sir Rod who was born a month and a half after his twin brother. Everything about this show is wickedly funny!  Reluctantly, I even admit that I laughed at the fart joke in episode 1 and I hate fart jokes. This show is original right through the entire production, including the series creators’ choice to have every character in the show played by a living, breathing actor except Sir Rod. He is actually a full sized puppet. It’s brilliant.

This show is crass. It’s rude. It’s even possibly offensive. It’s a must see! It’s hilarious!

The Creep

The Creep is an animated short film designed as an old 1950′s ‘who dun-it’ TV show. The animation is superb. The intermittent ‘commercial’ is hilarious. The filmmakers clearly did their research on the feel and textures of 1950s style shows. Everything gives that true feel of an old TV show. Even the voice over sound exactly like you may remember from watching such a program.

There’s one catch. The plot. Listen, if the story isn’t that good then all that wonderful work on image, picture, sound goes for naught! The story is about ‘the creep’ yet we never get to know who the creep is, how they caught him or what this whole dang thing is all about anyway. We don’t even really know what is so creepy about him other than a creepy shadow of him in a woman’s house as he enters uninvited. Maybe I’m missing something. I want so badly to enjoy this film. I watched it a second time and still shook my head at the fragmented plot.

I say good work to the production; poor work to the storyline.

I’m going to be generous though and give this only a half squash. It’s worth a quick look for the animation work at least.

Mr. Deity

Mr. Deity is a long standing web series. I found it on the net a couple of years ago when Crackle.com was still in beta and was originally dedicated to broadcasting original web programs and films… but that was so long ago and times have since changed. Crackle.com no longer dedicates its website to only original programming. I don’t actually know what Crackle.com dedicates its website to anymore. But that is a whole different kind of review. What has stayed stable though, is that Mr. Deity still stands strong. I love this show. It’s funny, daring, unique, controversial and well produced and well performed.

Mr. Deity is a series that looks at the everyday life of God, The Great Creator, The All Mighty. Each episode uses the Bible as its reference for giving us a moment in God’s time where He interacts with significant members/characters of the Bible; from Jesus to Lucy (Lucifer). There isn’t an episode that doesn’t send me off my chair laughing. The script is intelligent. The acting is clearly professionally polished. I guess the only warning I can give you is to be aware that it is a parody. It may offend some viewers who don’t feel this kind of subject should be parodied. I personally hope that doesn’t stop you from enjoying one of the best shows I’ve found in the net. It’s rare that we get to see such quality productions. Don’t deny yourself. Watch!

This pumpkin definitely does not get squashed. It’s a must see!
